WOMEN ARE EMOTIONAL SHOPPERS

It is said that women are emotional shoppers, Well as a woman myself, there’s something common I noticed amongst ladies, particularly my friends, not forgetting my mom. Each time prior occasions such as weddings, Gala dinners, Concerts and even funerals nowadays, we want to look the best and hey that comes with serious expenses that are sometimes unbudgeted for.

According to a survey report on female economic behavior and the emotional influence to shopping ( www.sheconomics.com/downloads/womens_emotions.pdf ) the findings stated that “Shopping provides women with momentary pleasure but also for some, long term regret”

 

Now ask yourself what does regret have to do with shopping? Well, as ladies are popularly known for the love of shopping , I suppose regret comes from spending more than we can afford, sometimes on items we do not necessarily need. Who buys, the matching drapings, the overpriced plates set apart on display for “visitors only” as my mom would put it. Okay… maybe there’s some tiny truth in this emotional shopping idea.

 So… it happened with me this other day that I went shopping with fewer coins in my pocket and there came the big clash, my desire to get an extraordinary dress versus the reality of limited cash. I guess disappointment pulled my emotional trigger so much that I couldn't nurture my feelings any more… so I penned it down to express my heavy heart. You may call this note a poem its fine but I call it the expressions of my heart titled:

THE TASTE OF PEACE

Here we go again fiddling, price tags

In and out, in and out, searching for fulfillment to no avail,

Temporary satisfaction, dept

I despise deficiency

 I abolish lack

Is there any lesson in this agony?

My mind wondered and pondered for a moment

Trying to figure the unfathomable

Attempting to solve the insoluble with mine own strength

Beyond hands reach

Twisting the circumstance arm twice

Then it hit me

Is there any lesson in this misery?

Reveal to me mine lesson trough this turmoil.

Immediately tranquility descended and liberated my soul

Insight and wisdom sent forth into mine ear to hear

Patience! Patience! Patience!

“Live according to your current capacity and Run with Patience in life”

I then purposed in my heart to lead a contented life

One day at a time till I reach my goal

I Tasted Peace!

So… this is my personal lesson that in as much as I shop, which I know I will… especially with the festive season and its endless occasions around the corner. I owe it to myself to at least relax and spend as much as I can afford. 

My philosophy in life: BE PATIENT WITH YOUR PROGRESS DON’T RUSH IT, WORK HARD AS YOU GROW GRADUALLY TO THE PERSON YOU ASPIRE TO BECOME AND ACHIEVE WITHOUT SORROWS!!
