TURNING YOUR NEGATIVE START INTO A POSITIVE FINISH

SOME say the most complicated part in life is getting started. Is that so? Well maybe I haven't been around much to witness that but I have observed in my day and age people who would register companies and quit when it does not flourish, register for school and then drop out in the middle of the year, record albums and give up when they don't hit the market as they expected. So maybe it’s not the start that matters most but the zeal to finish what you started.

Which reminds me; I attended a dialog that was held at Walter Sisulu University to launch ZAZI campaign that is aimed at Women and girls. The dialog was conducted by Criselda Kananda, a radio DJ and show host on Metro FM.  I was so inspired by two ladies who narrated their stories anonymously as a guide to the dialog. One lady narrated the difficulties of a poor background and its challenges. As if poverty was not enough, she said on top of that she had to take care of her sick brother who later recovered and wanted to rape her. She had to flee from home and live in the streets; apparently she studied while living in the streets and attained her university qualification with 8 exemptions out of 10 subjects. Now that is what I call determination at all cost, she did not allow her negative background to determine her future.

Your response to what life throws at you can determine a positive end.

It’s amazing how most great men have astounding stories to tell about their humble beginnings. Professor Khaya Mfenyana was one of the speakers in the panel of the dialog and he shared his story briefly which inspired me a lot, he said "In the 50’s when I was a student; my friends would smoke at school by the lavatory. I did not have money for lunch at school so I used that as an excuse not to join them.” He decided to invest his time on his studies so he may have a better life tomorrow." Indeed he made a choice to focus and conquer peer pressure though it was not easy, it sure did pay off.

It's better to move slowly than to just stand still doing nothing.

I myself have had my share of difficulties, pity I can’t tell you all now. I remember one morning though, holding my breath squeezing my tummy against my desk trying to stop my grumbling tummy from embarrassing me in a quite exam class at school. At the same time hoping that the teachers don't come to chase out those who still owe fees because I would be one of them. Did that stop me? No, i continued studying because I had dreams to see unfold and that involves my effort.

I tried suicide too, maybe one day ill tell you why, thank God i
didn't die though, gosh! What was I thinking?
I would have missed out on a lot of blessings I'm enjoying now.

Suicide doesn't solve anything but deprives you from seeing the manifestation of your dreams. Live in order to tell your own story.

Finish what you started.

Be a finisher of what you start. You might have had an embarrassing beginning that’s nothing to be ashamed off, strive on to have a glorious finish.

You can still make it, it’s never too late to make a move, as long as you still have breath, there’s hope!!
